Language news launch
After funding cuts in recent years, the BBC has recently done a U-turn in introducing new language services on its schedules.
The World Service will soon start news services in four Indian languages of Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati and Punjabi in order increase its audiences in India from the current 28 million to 80 million. The overall target is 500 million.
The estimated budget is £289m and new jobs are likely to be created. The organisation currently broadcasts in 28 languages and 11 new languages are to be launched soon.
