Yoga Fever at Alexandra Palace and Beyond
Thousands of people all around the UK are planning activities for the International Yoga Day on 21 June which also coincides with the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year.
At London’s Alexander Palace, there is a whole host of activities with well-known practitioners. There are around 80 classes with some of the biggest names in yoga. The event is supported by a number of sponsors including Yogi Tea, Om Shanti Tea, Vita CoCo, Azul Wellbeing and Golden Tours Foundation, who also support the HMB website.
The event is in response to the UN declaring 21 June as the International Day of Yoga at the request of India’s Prime Minister Modi who stated his case to the UN General Assembly that “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies the unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us deal with climate change.”
HMB is very keen to find out the type of activities people organising all around the country. For further information about events at Alexander Palace, please go to http://www.iyd.yoga/
